Have you seen or received a strange, handwritten sign about a missing woman?

They’ve been showing up all over Southern Montgomery and Northern Warren Counties in recent days, police tell News Center 7.

The thing is, at this point it does not appear anyone is actually missing.

Centerville Police told News Center7, they’ve received numerous reports of the strange flyers since last week, in many cases describing a missing woman – in other cases, the flyers have similar handwriting and contain an unclear message.

WHIO found similar reports in Southern Montgomery County neighborhood watch groups on social media – where neighbors reported receiving the signs in their mailbox, or seeing one in a public place.

Police said they do not have any reports of someone missing under the name listed, and were not able to locate anyone in the community by that name.

Reports of these signs, police said, have surfaced in Centerville, Moraine, Washington Township, Miami Township and Clearcreek Township.

According to Centerville Police, a Moraine officer was able to make contact with the person responsible for the signs – in a shopping center as he was handing out additional flyers – but it’s not clear at this point why the person is doing this.

WHIO has reached out to Moraine Police for more information on that department’s apparent contact with the person behind the mysterious flyers, and is awaiting a response.
