UPDATE: Vandalia Fire investigating hazmat incident at apartment complex

VANDALIA — UPDATE @ 1:02 p.m.:

The Vandalia Fire Department is investigating a hazmat incident that was reported at an apartment complex on Tuesday, Vandalia Police confirm.

No injuries have been reported at this time, Lt. Brandon Sucher said.

“There is nothing criminal at this point,” Sucher told News Center 7.

INITIAL REPORT:

Hazmat crews have been called out to a Vandalia apartment complex.

Police and firefighters were called out to the 400 block of South Brown School Road around 11:20 a.m. after getting reports of an unknown substance on a door, according to Vandalia Police Dispatch records.

After crews arrived on scene, it was determined that hazmat crews should be called, according to initial emergency scanner traffic.

It currently unknown what the substance on the door is or if anyone has been injured.
