David Allen Mills, 38, was identified as the man arrested during the standoff that first started around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on Aloha Drive, Moraine police Sgt. Andrew Parish said in a media release Wednesday morning.

Police attempted to locate and arrest Mills for outstanding warrants for his arrest for misuse of 911 systems, and was accused of placing 911 calls to various communication centers without any apparent emergency, Parish said.

When officers attempted to arrest Mills, he threatened officers with a shotgun, Parish said. The threat prompted police to call for Kettering Regional SWAT officers to respond and a standoff ensued.

After a five-hour standoff, and SWAT officers using “various tactics,” Mills surrendered and was taken into custody, Parish said.

Mills has been booked in the Montgomery County Jail on preliminary felony charges of inducing panic and misuse of 911 systems.

No injuries were reported.
