NEW JASPER TWP — Heavy smoke fills the air after a house fire in Greene County Friday morning,

Around 7 a.m. crews were dispatched to the 400 block of South New Jasper Station Road on reports of a structure fire.

News Center 7 crews on the scene see heavy smoke and flames coming from what appears to be a house.

The house is currently vacant and was under renovation, according to News Jasper Fire Chief Doug McDaniel.

McDaniel said that a total of five departments responded.

Due to freezing temperatures, all the water had to be brought in through tanker trucks, adding a challenge to fighting the fire.
