High grass and tall weeds at Greencastle Cemetery are making it difficult for people to leave flowers at loved ones’ final resting places this Mother’s Day.

WHIO has received several calls from people upset about the conditions of the property located at 2045 Nicholas Rd. in Dayton and some have even brought out lawn mowers and weed eaters to tend to their loved ones’ grave sites.

“It’s ridiculous. It’s like they don’t care,” Jermaine Morgan of Dayton said about the maintenance of the property.

Morgan said on Saturday his family mowed the grass of the area of his mother’s headstone.

We reached out to Greencastle Cemetery to learn more but was not able to get in contact with them.

In 2015, volunteer superintendent Darren Boykins said Greencastle is a non-profit cemetery with few volunteers.

It’s not known if Boykins is still the superintendent.
