1 in custody after high-speed pursuit starts in Huber Heights, ends in Dayton

The man in custody after a high-speed pursuit on Monday that started in Huber Heights and ended in Dayton has been identified as James W. Perry, 27, dispatch records show.

Huber Heights police initiated the pursuit around 12:30 p.m. after an officer attempted to stop a reported stolen car, according to police scanner traffic.

The car was stolen from an address on North Dixie Drive in Harrison Twp., according to police.

The pursuit continued onto Ohio 4, where speeds reached around 100 mph, according to police scanners.

Tire deflation devices were used during the chase and deflated the tires of a police cruiser, according to reports.

The suspect was stopped on East First Street near North Patterson Boulevard and taken into custody.

Perry is currently in Montgomery County Jail on a preliminary theft charge, though he has not been formally charged, online records show.
