SHELBY COUNTY — Two tornadoes touched down in the northern Miami Valley early Sunday morning, causing damage in both Shelby and Darke counties.
The first tornado touched down near Versailles around 4:20 a.m. and lasted for about three minutes.
A storm survey from the National Weather Service showed the path length of the EF0 tornado was 2.9 miles, with an estimated maximum wind speed of 80 mph. The maximum path width was 100 yards.

The first signs of damage with this tornado occurred near the intersection of OH-185 and Conover Road, with minor damage to a few trees and homes, the NWS said.
According to the Village of Versailles’ social media, Reed Road, Burns Road, Hager Road and a portion of Murphy road were without power Sunday morning due to downed trees and a broken power pole.
There were also reports of a car being moved from its parked position, and a piece of plywood was embedded under the hood, according to the survey.

The second tornado touched down within minutes of the Versailles tornado. The tornado hit north of the first tornado and caused damage just to the northwest of Russia.
The first notable damage associated with the tornado occurred at a property on the east side of Marshall Road, with one tree damaged and partial roof removal from a barn, according to the weather service.
The survey reports that the path length of the tornado was 2.6 miles, with an estimated maximum wind speed of 75 mph. The maximum path width was 100 yards.
A house also lost some shingles and gutters, and at least a dozen trees were damaged or uprooted near Darke Shelby Road.
There were no injuries reported from either tornado.
