VIDEO: Car smashes into Huber Heights home; suspect charged with multiple felonies

HUBER HEIGHTS — A Dayton man is facing multiple felony charges after he was accused of crashing into a Huber Heights home following a domestic dispute with a family member Saturday afternoon.

Jeffrey Leonard, 60, is charged with seven counts of felonious assault and single counts of obstructing official business and vandalism, according to online court records.

The incident happened just before 3:00 p.m. on the 4300 block of Longfellow Avenue.

Homeowner Paul Leonard told News Center 7′s Michael Gordon that his adopted son reacted badly to a family dispute and drove his car into their home.

Leonard and other family members were inside at the time crash, but no one was hurt.

“I am kind of shaky, but I am ok,” Leonard said.

According to Leonard, his son then got out of the car and violently threatened the family.

“I guess he wanted to kill us. That is what he said,” Leonard said.

Leonard said he knew his adopted son was dangerous. He said that he and his daughter had both went to get restraining orders against suspect on Monday.

Huber Heights Police said while officers were on their way to the crash, they received reports that someone at the location had a gun. Officers were able to talk the suspect out of the residence. The suspect was taken from the scene in an ambulance to be treated for injuries related to the crash.

Police said the crash appeared to be intentional.

Leonard was not in jail Monday afternoon.
