NEW: Dayton police searching for sedan taken in early morning shooting, carjacking at Shell

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 4:24 p.m.: Police are looking for a gray sedan taken during a carjacking early Friday that left the car’s owner suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim, identified as a 30-year-old male, stopped at the Shell Station, 4125 W. Third St., about 1:20 a.m. After finishing his business inside, he spoke briefly with an acquaintance and returned to his car to leave.

As he opened the car door to get in, an unknown male approached, shot the victim multiple times and then took the vehicle, according to the Dayton Police Department.

The victim, who made his way to Miami Valley Hospital, remains there, reportedly in critical condition, according to police.

Dayton homicide detectives are investigating the incident because of the seriousness of the victim’s injuries.

Police are trying to locate the vehicle, a gray 2014 Chevrolet Impala, which bears Ohio license plate HWZ 2784.
