Man identified in death investigation at Dayton house

UPDATE @ 2:40 p.m.:

The man surrounding the death investigation at a house on South Sperling Avenue has been identified as Jerry M. Combs, 85.

The cause and manner of his death have not yet been determined.

FIRST REPORT:

Homicide detectives and forensic investigators are investigating the death of a person at a house on South Sperling Avenue in Dayton Monday morning.

Officers were first requested around 8 a.m. to the house in the first block of South Sperling Avenue.

According to dispatch records, a person went to check on a man who lives in the house and found him dead with blood on the walls.

Officers on the scene said it was “too soon” to determine if the death was a homicide. However, evidence crews and detectives were requested to the scene.

The identity of the deceased was not released.

An investigator from the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office arrived at the scene around 9:10 a.m.

A car was towed from the scene, but additional details about the investigation were not released.
