Hotwired forklift used in attempt to steal ATM

TOLEDO — Police said thieves used a hotwired forklift to try and steal an ATM in Toledo.

Officers were investigating a theft at the shopping plaza at 4861 Dorr St. on Monday at approximately 9 a.m., according to CBS affiliate WTOL.

Contractors working at a construction site behind the plaza building told police they had arrived at the site Monday morning and discovered a forklift still running.

The contractors said part of a Fifth Third ATM was still attached to the forklift.

Police noticed the nearby Fifth Third ATM in the parking lot of the plaza was missing.

No suspects have been identified by police as nearby businesses did not capture the theft.
