Significant damage reported in Washington Twp. house fire

WASHINGTON TWP. — UPDATE @ 6:15 a.m.:

A Washington Twp. home was significantly damaged during a Sunday morning fire on Normandy Creek Drive.

Firefighters were called to 8100 block shortly before 5 a.m.

“On arrival crews had heavy fire involvement in the attic area on the backside of the structure,” said Washington Twp. Fire Chief Scott Kujawa.

Four people were in the house and were able to get out safely.

It’s not clear at this time what caused the fire.

A fire investigator had just arrived on the scene and was starting the investigation, Kujawa said.

INITIAL REPORT:

A fire has been reported at a home in the Miller Farm Lane and Normandy Creek Lane area in Washington Twp.

Heavy smoke and flames were coming from the roof, according to initial reports.

The fire was reported shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday.

Initial reports indicated that the home has been evacuated.
