NEW CARLISLE — A house fire involving fireworks and a response from the Dayton Bomb Squad is now under investigation in Clark County.

Initial emergency scanner traffic reported that the fire started in the garage of a residence on the 600 block of Brumbaugh Drive in New Carlisle just before 7:00 p.m. Saturday.

The homeowner called 911 saying that fireworks were going off in a garage, causing the garage to catch on fire.

Bethel Township Fire Chief, Jacob King told News Center 7′s Candace Price that when crews arrived on scene, they found heavy fire.

“They could hear fireworks going off inside the garage,” King said.

That development led to the Dayton Bomb Squad being called to the scene and assisted crews in the removal of the fireworks to “enhance the safety.”

King said the structure had a partial collapse which led him to call the it a total loss.
