The program is meant to demonstrate the day-to-day activities that police officers engage in and the incidents they encounter, a spokesperson for the program stated.

Accepted applicants will see the police training process, analyze how criminal investigations unfold, and ride with officers on the streets.

The program is meant to provide a positive interaction with the community, allowing a look into law enforcement operations, the spokesperson said.

“A lot of people don’t know what we encounter everyday. They think we’re just out there answering 911 calls or pulling people over. Well, this opens up a whole new aspect that shows people that back side of us,” Officer Lambert told News Center 7.

“I honestly think that everyone in this community, if they get the chance to, regardless of race, gender, age, should take this class,” a Huber Heights resident and local business owner Sean Cassidy said.

Applicants must be 21 years old, and work or live in Huber Heights.
