HUBER HEIGHTS — We now know the results of a month-long traffic detail in Huber Heights. The city put two officers at the intersection of State Route 202 and Merily Way to monitor and solve congestion.
News Center 7′s Gabrielle Enright spoke with the city mayor, Jeff Gore, on Friday about the results and the next steps.
He says the city got the results of the study just before Enright spoke with him Friday afternoon and they went over the numbers.
For 32 days, officers spent eight hours per day watching traffic and handing out tickets if necessary.
The officers made over 100 stops for violations, 56 were for blocking intersections, 35 cars were stopped in the road, 13 disobeyed a traffic signal and two drivers were stopped for not keeping a safe distance.

Enright reports police issued 104 warnings and six citations. They found a stolen car and made an arrest.
They also determined more than 1,100 vehicles were stopped and often were waiting to enter the Flying Ace Car Wash.
That’s why the study was done.
People who live in and pass through the community and have been frustrated. They love that new businesses are coming to the area but feel the city can’t handle the traffic that comes with them.

Mayor Gore told Enright an engineering firm has been hired and will use all the data collected to develop a plan.
“Everyone in the city knows we have an issue there,” he said. “Everyone is working diligently on it and I think we will have a long-term solution and plan that will fix all of this and people will be able to see and read about this knowing that big changes are coming.”
Gore said to Enright officers will do spot checks on the intersection now, and not be there eight hours a day.
She learned there are already some plans to do some work along Old Troy Pike.
The mayor said we should see some of that work start within the year.
