Humane Society named first Service Enterprise nonprofit animal agency

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton has been named as the first Service Enterprise nonprofit animal agency in Ohio.

Due to the work the society and volunteers have done with Best Friends Animal Society and the Points of Light, they recently earned certification as a Service Enterprise organization.

The Humane Society is the first animal welfare agency in Ohio to receive this certification and is the first non-profit in Dayton to earn this honor.

“(Volunteers) are the backbone of our organization and through this certification those who choose to generously give their time to help the animals in our shelter can rest assured that we are as committed to them as we are to the animals,” President and CEO Brian Weltge said. “It takes our staff and volunteers working together to grow and we are so grateful that this certification can help us continue to further our mission of ensuring all animals are valued and free from suffering in our community."

By becoming a Service Enterprise organization, the society is being recognized as a non-profit leader for their commitment in leveraging the time and talent of volunteers to meet the organization’s mission.
