DAYTON — UPDATE @ 4:01 p.m. 7/18:
The nine cats rescued from a North Smithville Road storage unit are receiving medical care at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton.
The case is still under investigation, and it is not yet known whether or not charges will be filed, according to the Humane Society.

UPDATE @ 3:27 p.m. 7/17:
About a dozen cats were rescued from a Dayton storage unit Tuesday afternoon.
The Humane Society of Greater Dayton removed the cats from the North Smithville Road storage unit, which had some food but no ventilation.
The cats were reportedly in small carriers and cages.
All the cats are alive and receiving medical treatment.

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is responding to a cruelty and neglect case at a Dayton storage unit.
The Humane Society is reportedly removing nine cats from a North Smithville Road storage unit.
The condition of the cats is not known as of this time.
