The cards are being made by sixth grade students at Springboro Intermediate School, according to the school district. More than 500 cards will be mailed to Officer Ney in the coming days and weeks.
The school district says it will be mailing the cards and letters to Officer Ney and his family as a show of support for his commitment to the Springboro and Clearcreek Township community.
Ney has had several surgeries and returned home the week of Sept. 26 after being discharged from his rehabilitation facility, according to the school district.
“Officer Ney has been in and out of the hospital so much,” said Sarah Jung, Springboro Intermediate Teacher. “It’s really important for our students to give thanks to those who put their life on the line for us in the community. One thing like this could make a big difference in someone’s day.”
