Hyundai reportedly stolen from UD campus

DAYTON — The University of Dayton Department of Public Safety is notifying the UD community about a reported vehicle theft that happened Monday night.

At approximately 11 p.m., a vehicle owner flagged down an officer in A Lot when he was unable to locate his Hyundai Sonata, according to a letter Public Safety sent to students.

During the initial investigation, it was determined the vehicle was likely stolen Sunday, Oct. 23 just before a different Hyundai, stolen from Kettering, was found abandoned with its engine running in A Lot, the letter stated.

When officers discovered the abandoned vehicle on Sunday, they noted broken auto glass nearby suggesting the perpetrators may have stolen the reporting party’s Hyundai Sonata to flee the lot, according to Public Safety.
