HUBER HEIGHTS — One person was taken to the hospital after a crash involving a semi on Interstate 70 in Huber Heights Tuesday.

The crash happened on I-70 westbound near the 38-mile marker.
According to a spokesperson for Huber Heights police, a silver Buick was traveling in the westbound lane at an excessive rate of speed and attempted to merge into the middle turn lane to without checking to see if it was safe. It struck the front of a Jeep that was in the middle lane. Both vehicles tried to veer from each other and were hit by the semi.
All of the vehicles were pushed into the median and hit the concrete wall. The Buick became lodged between the wall and the semi.
The driver of the Buick climbed out of the vehicle. He was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Speed and potential distracted driving are being investigated as factors in the crash, the spokesperson said.
The highway was shut down for approximately 2 ½ hours.
