GREENE COUNTY — Slick roads were cited as a factor in a crash involving a Greene County Sheriff’s Office cruiser on state Route 72 late Monday night, according to a spokesperson for the department.

A deputy was investigating an earlier single-vehicle crash on state Route 72 near Clifton when their cruiser was hit by another car traveling south, the spokesperson said in a media release issued Tuesday afternoon.
Cruiser camera footage released by the sheriff’s office shows the deputy nearly being collected in the crash. The deputy was standing on the side of the road and jumped out of the way after the second vehicle hit the cruiser.
Emergency scanner traffic indicated the deputy reported slick conditions on state Route 72 moments before the cruiser was hit by the other vehicle.
“The road conditions at the time of the crash were very icy and slick. Sheriff Scott Anger is grateful that the deputy was not injured and he reminds drivers to use caution when approaching any stopped emergency vehicles,” the spokesperson said.
Additional details were not released.
