OH 73 bridge re-opens after 12-car pileup crash sends four to the hospital

MIDDLETOWN — UPDATE @ 9:30 a.m.:

The Ohio 73 bridge over the Great Miami River is back open after a multi-vehicle accident sent numerous people to the hospital, according to police and fire officials.

The road was closed after icy conditions caused a pileup of 12 vehicles.

Medical squads from Trenton, Madison Twp., Monroe and St. Clair Twp. responded.

Nine vehicles were towed from the scene and four people were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

INITIAL REPORT:

The state Route 73 bridge over the Great Miami River is closed after icy conditions caused a pileup of at least 12 cars this morning, according to Butler County dispatch records.

The dispatcher said that they didn’t believe there were any injuries in the crash.

The crash was reported around 7:40 a.m.
