CLARK COUNTY — A months long investigation led deputies and members of the Ohio Investigative Unit to raid five locations as part of an investigation into gambling and the operation of gambling houses in the city of Springfield and other areas of Clark County.
Investigators were at one of the locations in the 1800 block of South Limestone Street in Springfield for hours Thursday. The investigation started in July.

The five raids resulted in deputies seizing “over 100 slot and gaming machines, plus on-line game computers, financial records, and significant amounts of cash, detailing a substantial period and quantity of illegal activity,” the sheriff’s office said.
“During the course of the investigation, a number of individuals were identified as being operators of single Gambling Houses,” deputies said. “Investigators were able to also identify the distributor of the gaming machines, and several of the owners of the gambling houses, the distributor and some of the owners being residents of states outside of Ohio.”
Three people, including an out-of-state distributor and two out-of-state owners were arrested and taken to the Clark County Jail. Their names were not immediately available.
