DAYTON — Some drivers who are pleading for bumpy roads to be re-paved may have to wait a year for relief.
News Center 7′s Mike Campbell spoke with city public works department leaders and found some neighborhoods are already seeing improvements.
The Dayton Public Works Department receives multiple calls about bad roads around the city.
Once spring is here, they have contractors out making improvements all across the city.
“It’s been two to three years of waiting, they finally got to it, thank goodness,” William Burden said.

Burden said the road was “terrible.”
But that’s in the past now as city contractors work to smooth out the brand-new pavement.
On Wayne Avenue, hundreds of drivers will not see that kind of relief.
“I know Wayne Avenue is a rough ride, I hear it every day,” Fred Stovall said.
Stovall said a road reconstruction is scheduled for next year.

“We’re going to totally reconstruct the road, new curbs, new sidewalks, new streetlights, also add some left turn lanes,” Stovall said.
Stovall said this year a small portion of the upper section of the road will be repaved and they will try to temporarily patch the worst spots until the 2024 rebuild.
City crews will pave from Esther Price up to Tank’s Bar and Grill on Wayne Avenue this summer.
Drivers will have to deal with the rest of the rough road for another year.
