UPDATE @ 9:08 p.m.: Two people have been taken to Miami Valley Hospital from a head-on collision in Trotwood that will keep West Third Street shut down for up to two hours.

The victims are males. One was driving a large pickup truck hauling blacktop sealant and the other was operating a small sedan that apparently crossed the center line in the 7400 block.

A Trotwood fire official tells us the truck was carrying several buckets and two 55-gallon tanks of sealant, which was spilled onto the roadway. The driver was semi-conscious when he was extricated from the wreckage, but the driver of the sedan appears to have suffered serious injuries.

The fire official said the condition of the truck driver is not known, although he was speaking with rescuers as they cut him from the wreckage.

FIRST REPORT

A multiple-vehicle accident with an entrapment has been reported in the 7400 block of West Third Street in Trotwood.

A partial shutdown of the roadway has been ordered as crews work to extricate the victim trapped in the wreckage. They’ve also asked for sand or an absorbent for what a fire official described as “liquefied asphalt” in the area of the accident.

The accident was dispatched about 7:44 p.m.
