Urbana woman dies in motorcycle, SUV crash in Clark County

MAD RIVER TWP., Clark County — UPDATE @ 9 p.m. (July 7)

An Urbana woman was killed in crash involving a motorcycle and SUV in Clark County

The woman, identified as 62-year-old Debra K. Dunham, was the passenger of a red 2008 Harley Davidson trike driven by 64-year-old Barry S. Dunham, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Springfield Post.

The Dunhams were headed north at 5:35 p.m. on Dayton-Springfield Road east of Enon when they slowed to turn into a private driveway. They were rear-ended by a beige 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada driven by Jerry Durst of Springfield.

Both Dunhams were ejected and were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. They were taken to Springfield Regional Hospital, where Debra Dunham was pronounced dead, the patrol reported.

Durst, who was wearing his seat belt, was not injured.

The highway patrol earlier identified Nicholas Matthews as the SUV driver in a press release, but Matthews is the owner of the vehicle and was not driving.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Mad River Twp. Fire Department and Clark County Sheriff's Office assisted.

FIRST REPORT (July 6)

Three people have been taken to hospitals this evening following a crash involving a motorcycle and SUV.

The crash was reported around 5:40 p.m. in the 5500 block of Dayton Springfield Road, near Taylor’s Tavern.

Two people were riding a tricycle, including a woman wearing a helmet who appeared to be seriously injured.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post is investigating.

Mad River Twp. and Enon crews were assisted by Hustead crews.
