BUTLER TWP. — The ramp from Interstate 75 North to Interstate 70 West is open after nearly seven hours of crash clean-up into the early morning hours.
A semitrailer overturned on the ramp at approximately 9:05 p.m. and could not be righted until the cargo, steel containers, was unloaded.
The semi driver “basically took this ramp a little bit too fast despite the warning signs and the lane curve signs,” Sgt. Jeff Kramer of the Dayton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. “Apparently, the load shifts a little bit when they’re doing that and the next thing you know you’re on your side.”
The crash is one of several that have happened on the ramp in recent years.
Kramer said it was fortunate the incident did not happen during a busy time, such as rush hour.

The driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Troopers from the Dayton Post responded to an unusually high number of crashes on Wednesday, including those that involved fatalities.

“This is another example of a driver not paying attention to the roadway and the roadway signs and warning signs,” Kramer said.
The driver, whose name was not released. will be cited, Kramer said, likely for failure to control.
In March, the Ohio Department of Transportation placed new digital message boards warning drivers to slow down after several crashes on the ramp were blamed on speed.
