Identity of woman killed in head-on Clark County crash released

UPDATE @ 4:28 p.m. (Oct. 21):

The conditions of the children involved in the crash on Dayton Springfield Road in Springfield have improved.

The 12-year-old was downgraded to serious condition and the 8-year-old was downgraded to good condition, according to police.

UPDATE @ 11:20 p.m.:

A 2005 Chevrolet Uplander minivan, driven by Linda K. Camp, 71, of Springfield, was heading westbound on Dayton Springfield Road when she drove left of the center line and struck a 2001 Lexus LX470 SUV, driven by Margaret I. Wagner, 27, of Oakwood head-on, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post.

Camp was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. She had two passengers, an 8-year-old and 12-year-old, who were not restrained. Both were taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital, the 8-year-old in serious condition and the 12-year-old in critical condition, read the release.

Wagner was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton with minor injuries, and her passenger, Matthew A. Bierma, 34, of Springfield, was taken to Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek with minor injuries.

The crash closed Dayton Springfield Road for about four hours.

The Springfield Post was assisted by Mad River Twp. Fire and EMS, Fairborn EMS, and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

UPDATE @ 9:45 p.m.:

A woman in her 70s has died at the hospital after a head-on collision crash involving a minivan and SUV, according to the OSP.

An 8-year-old, who is in serious condition, and a 12-year-old, who is in critical condition, also were taken to a hospital after the entrapment crash.

The two occupants of the SUV have been treated for minor injuries.

The cause is still under investigation.

FIRST REPORT:

A road is closed after a two-vehicle accident occurred Saturday night on Dayton-Springfield Road, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol dispatch.

CareFlight was called to the scene, but was unable to fly due to the weather.
