UPDATE: Inmate who died after Clark County Jail incident identified

CLARK COUNTY — An inmate who died after an incident at the Clark County Jail Wednesday afternoon has been identified.

Medics were called out the Clark County Jail Wednesday around 2:15 p.m.

Floyd Jordan Jr., 49, was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. Jordan had been in jail on child porn, rape and gross sexual imposition charges, online records show.

Deputies said his injuries are believed to be self-inflicted.

This is the second inmate to recently die of a suspected self-inflicted injury.

Emil Witherspoon, a Springfield man sentenced to life in prison for a deadly 2021 gas station shooting died at the Clark County Jail just hours after his sentencing hearing in February.
