Investigation leads to large drug bust in the Miami Valley

MIAMI VALLEY — Authorities with the Miami Valley Bulk Smuggling Task Force announced a large narcotics seizure in the Miami Valley.

As part of an ongoing investigation, Jose Noriega-Rodriguez, 42, of Sinaloa, Mexico was arrested on December 15th after evidence was gathered indicating he was allegedly involved in narcotics trafficking.

Agents conducted a probable cause traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Noriega-Rodriguez that resulted in the seizure of one kilogram of Fentanyl, according to a release.

Additional searches were conducted at a storage facility in Hillard, Ohio and an Airbnb in Columbus. These searches resulted in the seizure of an additional nine kilograms of Fentanyl, two kilograms of Cocaine, one kilogram of Heroin, 336 grams of Methamphetamine and four pounds of Marijuana and approximately 150k in cash, the release said.

“Fentanyl is flowing from Mexico to Ohio and killing our communities,” Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said. “Overdose deaths might have taken a back seat in the minds of some, but they remain a high priority for our team, as the numbers have skyrocketed. Our drug task forces fight on the front lines every day to eliminate the cartel ties and remove this poison from our streets.”

Noriega-Rodriguez is facing a series of drug related charges and remains in the Montgomery County Jail.
