UPDATE @ 7 p.m. (March 2)
Former patients of a Harrison Twp. dental office under investigation by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office for Medicaid fraud spoke out today.
Agents with the state’s Medicaid Fraud Investigative Unit raided Dixie Dental and Denture, 3609 N. Dixie Drive, owned by Jeffrey Kleinman. Today, cars were in the parking lot and the practice was open as usual. News Center 7’s Kate Bartley went inside, but was told to leave by employees: “We’re not allowed to give a statement, unfortunately.”
No charges have been filed and no arrests made, but some former patients said they wonder what else investigators with Attorney Gen. Mike Dewine’s Office uncover when they comb through evidence they seized from the busy practice.
Teresa Simpson said she and her husband went to the office because her husband had several teeth that were bothering him.
“He wasn’t back there very long and came out and not one tooth was pulled, but five teeth were pulled,” she said. Simpson also said there were open bottles of chemicals in examination rooms. “I was appalled at the condition of the facility. It was just nasty, dirty, very unkempt.”
Crystal Toney went to Dixie Dental for a checkup.
“Basically, I was told I had 12 to 15 cavities,” she said. A second opinion revealed she didn’t have nearly that many, she said.
Both women said they were unsatisfied, even angry, about their experiences.
