A pickup truck and a large RV overturned Wednesday night, shutting down the northbound lanes of Interstate 75.

The crash was reported around 11:15 p.m. near Miamisburg-Centerville Road, just north of the Dayton Mall.

Judge William Marshall, of Portsmouth, who recently retired from Scioto County Common Pleas Court, was driving his extended cab pickup truck that was hauling an RV when he lost control and both vehicles overturned.

“I just started swerving and over-corrected, and there she is,” he said, pointing at his vehicles. “And I’m not drunk and I don’t take drugs.”

Miami Twp. police said a gust of wind may have caused the rear vehicle to rock, which led to the crash. The judge likely will get a ticket for failure to control, police said.

The RV ripped open in the crash, sending debris across the highway, and the pickup up in the air.

“My heart is still pounding hard,” Marshall said.
