One worker arrived at the Frisch’s on Main Street in Xenia just before 6 a.m. on Friday for the final time.

“Heartbreaking. I never thought I would see this day,” said Tammy Oliver. “It hurts, it’s really sad.”

News Center 7′s Malik Patterson spoke with Oliver on Friday. She has worked at the Xenia Frisch’s for 15 years.

“They’re holding on to the icon of freshers. They’re holding on to that, and it’s hit them as well, that it’s it’s going to be gone. So they want to get that last big boy, that last hot fudge cake,” she told Patterson.

One customer told Patterson he came here with his wife on a date. They got a Big Boy and fish sandwich, their two favorites. He said that he was a part of seven that would get around and eat together.

“You see the horseshoe? There used to be the same seven of us that sat there every night,” said Pete Cassidy.

“Really what are you guys going to do now?” asked Patterson said.

“Try to find each other and wave,” he answered.

For weeks, News Center 7 has reported on Cincinnati-based Frisch’s money problems.

The company has not paid more than $4 million in rent on several properties.

Several Frisch’s restaurants around the Miami Valley have already closed including, Springfield, Troy, Kettering, and Middletown.
