MIAMI VALLEY — This weekend’s string of severe weather and tornados left damage in several parts of the Miami Valley. Outside of Centerville, one family’s wheat fields sustained extreme damage.

Jenny Cornatt, a neighbor of the field located on Gebhart Road just south of Social Row Road, said the wind and rain were very strong Friday evening.

“It was just bad. The rain was pouring down. The wind was insane,” Cornatt said.

Cornatt said it was a shame to see the damage to her neighbor’s field was extensive.

“It was perfectly level. It was a beautiful crop and then it was heartbreaking to see that,” Cornatt said.

The resident who lives on the property told News Center 7′s James Brown that her father owns the land and was about a week away from harvesting the wheat.

She said he will attempt to salvage what he can, but he may have to turn to his insurance company to half coverage the damage if there is too much of a loss.
