“It’s scary. It’s scary for the youth that are involved,” Harrison Township resident Carmen Bostic said.

Just before 10 a.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies found a stolen car in the parking lot of Kroger at 3540 W. Siebenthaler Ave.

As deputies approached the car, the suspects got inside and tried to leave.

“Put the car in drive and strike the patrol vehicle, and then honestly continued to go into Drive and reverse multiple times,” Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Jeremy Roy said.

While leaving the parking lot, the juvenile driver hit five other cars and a woman who was standing outside her car. She was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver then turned onto Klepinger Road, heading towards Salem Avenue.

Roy said the chase lasted 10 minutes, going through parts of Harrison Township, Dayton, Trotwood, and back into Harrison Township.

Around this time, a deputy got into a crash with a car unrelated to the chase on Sunnyview Avenue and Catalpa Drive.

The deputy and driver of this car were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. They were both released a few hours later.

“A simple stolen car, where we had officers trying to get these folks out of this vehicle turned very serious, very quickly and very dangerous,” Roy said.

Bostic has lived on Sunnyview Avenue for eight years and said this neighborhood is typically quiet, but this incident is concerning.

“Don’t run, because, like I said, if someone is hit or the loss of loss of life, and now you’re facing some felonies,” Bostic said.

The chase ended in Trotwood at John Wolfe Park when the teens exited the car and ran away. Investigators could not find the suspects.

Roy said the sheriff’s office is pulling camera footage from businesses and the park to help them track down the teenagers.
