VANDALIA — Funeral services have begun for the four people shot and killed in a Butler Township neighborhood last week.
Loved ones shared memories about a husband and wife laid to rest Tuesday.
Hundreds gathered for pay their respects to 82 year old Clyde Knox and his wife, 78 year old Eva “Sally” Knox at Vandalia Methodist Church.
Dale Geisel graduated high school with Eva, known to most as Sally Knox.
“Real upbeat person, everyone liked her, she always made you laugh,” Geisel said.
He learned about her and her husbands death from a Facebook group of classmates.
“She had a long-term illness, you expect that but not someone to get shot,” he said.
Penny Hughes said she went to college with the Knox’s daughter.
She can’t believe what happened at their home Friday morning in a normally peaceful Butler Township neighborhood.
“Just to believe something like this would happen, it’s a tragedy, God will take care of the family, he takes care of those in need,” Hughes said.
It was a home she used to visit with their daughter and was welcomed so many times.

Sally Knox worked at Vandalia schools for years in the transportation department, driving buses and supervising other drivers.
She also brought joy to many kids playing the role of “Silly Sally” for younger children in the Safety Village.
Those that gathered for and her and her husbands celebration of life wanted to remember a couple whose lives brought joy to others.
“She was just a happy person, we need more happy people,” Geisel said.
The Knox family announced that they are laying Clyde and Sally Knox to rest at a cemetery in Tipp City.
Services for the two other victims of the shooting, Sarah and Kayla Anderson, are scheduled for Friday.
