One of those volunteers was Teri Gorrutta.
“I felt like this is a way to give back,” Gorrutta said.
Gorutta has spent the last six Christmases volunteering at House of Bread, giving back to the community alongside her husband.

She loves it when newbies also show an interest in giving back.
“When you walk away from this, you’re gonna feel the Christmas spirit. You’re gonna feel it when you walk away. It’s a wonderful feeling,” Gorrutta said.
Throughout the year, House of Bread gives away 240 meals daily.
But on Christmas morning, they’re preparing 300 meals in a single day.
“No questions asked when they come, which is I think the most wonderful thing about the House of Bread,” Gorrutta said.
House of Bread serves meals from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
