Both Beall and Cole are due in court June 12 for their arraignments.
INITIAL REPORT (JUNE 4)

Joshua Beall, 29, made initial court appearances in two Montgomery County courtrooms for several charges in different communities.

Beall appeared in Dayton Municipal Court Monday afternoon to face charges of murder, attempted murder, felonious assault, and other charges. Beall’s attorney said he was entering a not guilty plea before Beall appeared frustrated and started to talk with his representation.

The attorney muted the microphone during the video court appearance and they appeared to have a heated conversation. Beall then unmutes the microphone and tried to enter a plea of no contest, rather than not guilty.
Judge Carl Henderson immediately rejected the plea.
“Sir, I am not going to let you plead no contest on a murder charge. It is not going to happen,” Henderson said.
“This is not the jurisdiction you do that, sir.”
Had Beall’s no contest plea been accepted, the case would have skipped trial.
Beall is accused of shooting and killing Donald E. Armstrong III May 30 inside a Dayton apartment on Maryland Avenue.
Beall also is accused in a Huber Heights carjacking and made a court appearance in the Municipal Court of Montgomery County, Western Division Monday as well. He entered not guilty pleas on charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle, having weapons under disability and aggravated robbery, court records show.
The vehicle stolen in the Huber Heights carjacking was later recovered May 31 after a high-speed pursuit and crash in the Cincinnati suburb of Sharonville. Beall and Casey Cole, 19, of Seaman, Ohio, were both arrested after the pursuit ended in a crash.
Cole is accused of robbing the LCNB bank branch in Oakwood, but her initial court date has not been set.
Beall also could be a suspect in bank robberies in Franklin, Troy and Beavercreek, according to previous reports.
