DAYTON — A Stebbins High School student finally left the hospital after a 10-week stay.

Ebonnie Sherwood got a new heart in March after having a heart attack while at track practice.

Sherwood was surrounded by emotional family and staff in the lobby of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

18-year-old Sherwood has been through so much in the last two months.

Including a stroke, multiple blood clots and doctors said she died multiple times and had to be brought back to life.

“I’m ready to get out of here, but I’m healthy, I’m good,” Sherwood said.

She is a senior at Stebbins High School and still hopes to attend graduation. She has plans to attend Sinclair College.

Staff held a prom for her while she was in treatment.

“Everything has just fallen into place, and it’s just a miracle how everything has come together,” Sherwood’s mother Beverly said.
