GREENE COUNTY — The Greene County Sheriff’s Office announced that after eight years of service, K9 Benny is retiring.
According to a social media post from the sheriff’s office, Benny, a Belgian Malinois, is now 9 1/2 years old and has been a member of the sheriff’s Office since 2014.
He worked as a dual-purpose dog (Patrol/Narcotics), the sheriff’s office said.
“Benny has been an instrumental member of the Sheriff’s Office and a true crowd pleaser. Dep. Jimmy Hughes has been Benny’s handler and will continue to care for Benny in his retirement years,” the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office says Benny is looking forward to sleeping in, Milk Bones and long walks.
