KETTERING — A teenager was arrested recently for threatening a school shooting, according to a Kettering police report.
A 15-year-old male was arrested for making terrorist threats and false alarms, according to the report.
While the exact threat is unknown, it reportedly targeted Kettering Fairmont High School.
“Most importantly, at no time was any student or staff member in danger at Fairmont High School,” said Principal Tyler Alexander. “The incident happened off of school property and during hours outside of the school day.”
An FBI agent reportedly contacted Kettering police about the threat around 10 p.m. Sept. 12.

“Joking about making threats is not tolerated at Fairmont High School or in Kettering City Schools,” said Alexander. “Please communicate with your student the severity of making a threat verbally, in writing or on social media. In today's day and age, every threat is treated as real.”
Alexander also encouraged parents to speak to urge their children to talk with school staff if “something is not right.”
Students who want to remain anonymous can call the school’s safety line at 937-643-4444 ext. 7.
“We would rather investigate something and find it to be false, than to not investigate at all,” Alexander said.
The teen has since been released to his parents.
The school is reportedly “working through our discipline procedures with the student and family.”
The teen’s next court date is Sept. 24 in Montgomery County Juvenile Court.
