AKRON — A Kia owner was shot at during an attempted car theft in Ohio over the weekend, according to our CBS affiliate in Cleveland WOIO-19 TV.

The incident happened in the 600 block of Chittenden Street in Akron around 3:20 a.m. on Sunday.

WOIO-19 reports that the 40-year-old car owner walked outside to confront an unknown suspect trying to steal his Kia Sportage.
The suspect pulled out a rifle and shot in the man’s direction.
The car owner returned fire and the suspect ran away, according to WOIO-19.
Akron police said the man was not injured during this incident, but the gunfire hit a neighbor’s home.
Over a dozen rifle caliber and other casings were found on scene, WOIO-19 TV reports.
The man told Akron police that this was the second time someone tried to steal his car.
