Heavy rain in northern counties triggering Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Warning, Watch overnight

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for Miami and Shelby counties until midnight.

Flood Advisory for Auglaize, Logan, Mercer, Shelby and Union counties until 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Flash Flood Warning issued for those same counties, except for Union, extended until 3 a.m. Tuesday because rain reportedly is falling at a rate of 2 to 3 inches an hour in the area that already has seen up to 4 inches of rain throughout the evening, according to National Weather Service forecasters in Wilmington.

Flash Flood Watch expanded to include Champaign, Clark, Miami and continues Auglaize, Darke, Logan, Mercer, Shelby and Union until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

DETAILED FORECAST:

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT: It will be warm and muggy this evening with a few showers and storms around, mainly north of I-70, said Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs. An isolated damaging wind gust and hail is possible with strong storms. These storms will push to the north, and dry weather will return to the Miami Valley overnight. Temperatures this evening will be split from north to south due to the storms in the area. Temperatures will be in the 70s north of Dayton and in the 80s south. Overnight lows will drop to the middle 60s.

TUESDAY: It will be mostly sunny, hot and humid. Highs will be near 90 with a heat index in the lower 90s.

Troy City Schools are dismissing two hours early Tuesday and Wednesday due to heat, according to the district.

WEDNESDAY: It will again be mostly sunny, hot and muggy again. Once again, highs will climb to near 90 with the heat index in the low 90s.

THURSDAY: Skies will be partly cloudy. It will still be muggy, but not as warm with temperatures in the lower 80s.

FRIDAY: It will be partly cloudy and noticeably cooler with highs in the upper 70s.

SATURDAY: The day will be partly cloudy and warm with a few showers or storms possible into the afternoon. Highs will be in the lower 80s.

SUNDAY: Another partly cloudy and warm day arrives with the chance for a few showers or storms. Highs will be in the lower 80s.
