Large amount of drugs, money linked to cartel seized from Trotwood home

TROTWOOD — A large amount of drugs were seized from a home in Trotwood by a multi-county task force Monday.

The Miami Valley Bulk Smuggling Task Force and RANGE Task Force conducted a search warrant in the 600 block of Coleridge Drive in Trotwood, according to a media release.

As a result of the search investigators found a “significant amount of currency directly linked to Sinaloa Cartel’s illicit activities.”

The Sinaloa Cartel is one of the most active cartels involved in smuggling drugs into the United States.

Law enforcement also found 17 kilograms of cocaine, one gun and three pounds of marijuana, according to a release.

“Drug traffickers beware – our organized crime task force in the Miami Valley is not only watching, they’re probably a step ahead of you,” Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said. “Great work by Sheriff Streck and his team to put these dealers behind bars.”

Two people were arrested in relation to the search and booked into Montgomery County Jail on drug related charges. The identity of these two people was not included in the release.

The Miami Valley Bulk Smuggling Task Force includes officers from the Montgomery County, Clark County, Vandalia, Butler Township, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Homeland Security and Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.
