TROTWOOD — Nearly 600 bales of hay helped fuel a fire on Seybold Road that will likely leave the road closed until this afternoon.

Two barns were destroyed.

A neighbor said a dog and sheep were killed in the fire, however firefighters said they were unaware of any animals dying.  However, the Trotwood Fire Chief said they don’t know how many sheep the owner had inside the barn.

The owner was able to get horses that were inside the barn out safely, firefighters said.

Water was shuttled in from neighboring departments. Cold temperatures led to a fire department water pump freezing, however other pumps were operating.

An investigator will be out at the fire later today to work to determine a possible cause of the fire.
