UPDATE: Woman killed in Springfield shooting identified; Suspect arrested

SPRINGFIELD — A woman is dead after a shooting in Springfield Sunday afternoon.

Crews were called to the 1200 block of Linden Avenue on reports of a woman shot around 12 p.m., according to initial emergency scanner traffic.

Tymesha Reed, 23, of Springfield, was found and pronounced dead on scene, police confirmed in a release Monday.

Police arrested Christopher Carrington, 34, of Springfield. Carrington was Reed’s boyfriend, according to a release. Police said he initially ran from the scene with two of five children that were in the house, but later turned himself in.

The two children were not injured.

Naveya Strickland, the sister of the victim, told News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott Sunday that her sister was amazing.

“You could call her, any time of the night, and she was always there,” Strickland said.

Friends and family told us the victim was a fantastic mother to her four children.

Carrington is currently booked in the Clark County Jail on murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence charges.
