TROY — A male is facing charges in connection to an officer who was shot in Troy Oct. 7, during an officer-involved shooting.
Charges have been filed with the Miami County Court for Ty Thomas and his role in the incident, according to the Troy Police Department.
Meanwhile, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is handling the officer-involved shooting portion of the incident.
According to the Troy Police Department, the officers involved in the incident are Sgt. Matt Mosier, Officer Laura Blankenship, and Officer Alec Sears.

Police were initially responding to a shots fired call in the area of South Kings Chapel Drive in Troy around 9:15 p.m.
Troy Police Department Chief Shawn McKinney told our crews, the caller who reported the shooting told police the suspect is a former employee of a nearby business. News Center 7 confirmed that business was Hobart Filler Materials.
When police arrived the suspect, who had briefly been on foot, left the scene and drove into a dead-end on South Kinds Chapel Drive. Police said the suspect tried to make a u-turn and collided with one of their cruisers. Police said the suspect started to ram police cruisers.
McKinney said that’s when three officers fired shots at the suspect, hitting them at least twice.
The suspect, was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries, McKinney said.
Earlier in the night, Piqua police received a call about the suspect making suicidal threats. McKinney said that’s when Piqua police went looking for the suspect.

The officers involved in the incident, have been placed on administrative leave.
WHIO reached out to Hobart Filler Metals for a comment on the incident. In a statement, a spokesperson said, “This incident is part of an on-going law enforcement investigation. At this point in time, it is not appropriate for us to comment.”
