High concentrations of lead were found in and around the Cordell Drive park in early 2016. The park has not been reopened since late 2015, when it closed for the season. Lead levels discovered in the soil were found to be 60 times the levels considered safe, according to the federal EPA. The $3-million cleanup project took around 120 days to complete.
