At least 6 killed in 5 separate crashes in less than 24 hours

At least five deadly crashes reported since Thursday afternoon have resulted in the deaths of at least six people across the Miami Valley.

In the last 24 hours, deadly crashes have been investigated in Fairborn, Springfield, Preble County, and Xenia.

Fairborn police responded to Zink Road Thursday around 1:30 p.m. after a motorcyclist was involved in a single-vehicle crash. The motorcyclist, identified as Curtis Stout, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Stout was an Airman stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, according to the Greene County Coroner’s Office.

Additional details about this crash were not available.

Springfield police were called to investigate two deadly crashes minutes apart, with the first crash occurring around 6 p.m. and resulted in the death of a child.

An SUV was hit by another vehicle, causing the SUV to overturn and ejected the child, who later died. The driver of the SUV was flown to a Dayton hospital however their condition wasn’t immediately known. The identity of the victim killed in the crash was not released.

Around 6:30 p.m. Springfield police were called to investigate another deadly crash involving a motorcycle around 6:30 p.m. on East John Street and Sunset Avenue. Additional details, including the victim’s identity, were not available Friday morning.

A mother and her 7-month-old child were killed in a crash on I-70 in Preble County around 6:40 p.m. Thursday. Tonya Beachy, 25, and Ellie Beachy, 7-months, both of Homeworth, Ohio were identified as the victims killed in the crash.

A preliminary investigation found a semitrailer failed to slow down for slower traffic caused by construction on I-70 West near U.S. 127. The semi crashed into the back of a pickup truck, driven by driven by Erik Beachy, 25. Tonya was pronounced dead on the scene and Ellie later died from her injuries at Dayton Children’s Hospital. Erik was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the semitrailer, Dorcella Washington, 60, of Columbus, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana.

During the overnight hours, Xenia police were called to a crash that killed one driver and injured a second. One vehicle went left of center on Bellbrook Road at U.S. 35 around 3:40 a.m. Friday and crashed head-on in to a second vehicle.

The driver of the first vehicle, identified as D’Aarron Milliner, 22 of Toledo, was pronounced dead at the scene.
