Their injuries were believed to be non-life threatening, he said.
The preliminary investigation suggests driver inattention on the part of one SUV driver, who was turning off Enterprise Road and onto northbound Jordan Road from U.S. 35 was hit in the driver’s door by the second SUV headed east on U.S. 35.
The highway was closed about an hour because of the accident, the captain said.
Police and medics originally responded to a report of a head-on collision that trapped both drivers in the wreckage at around 9:10 p.m.
When crews arrived on scene, we heard reports that there was heavy damage and that one of the vehicles had ended up on its side.
